Whether you come to us for a specific treatment or we find that you need some treatment at your first appointment, we aim to make every patient’s treatment journey as calm, relaxed and stress-free as possible. Of course, each patient’s exact journey will be as individual as they are, so why not hear what they say about us.
After your initial consultation, your dentist will take time to explain any treatment that is needed, using an intra-oral camera, photographs and x-rays as necessary, and will go through all the options available. You will be provided with a treatment plan and will be invited to take some time to think about your options. Once you have chosen the best treatments for you, in conjunction with your dentist, we will start to schedule your treatment appointments.
For more complex procedures, we will send you a letter and a more detailed plan, outlining your treatment and including estimated costs and timescales. The letter will explain the pros and cons of all treatment options, so that you can understand what happens next. For simpler procedures, we will provide you with a finalised treatment plan.
On the day of treatment, patient comfort is our highest priority. No matter what treatment you are having, we will do everything to make you feel relaxed, comfortable and confident about your treatment.
We like to get to know all of our patients personally, so reception staff and nurses will greet you by name, offer you a drink while you wait and will chat with you if you appear nervous, to give reassurance. We do everything we can to run to time because keeping waiting times as short as possible helps to minimise fear. You can help us to do this by arriving promptly for your appointment. If you do have to wait any time, there will always be a friendly face there to talk to.
It’s important to us to provide pain-free treatment from start to finish. We use a bubblegum-flavoured topical gel to freeze the gum before any injections, so you won’t feel a thing.
If you don’t like the sounds of the surgery, we have headphones you can use. Bring your favourite music or listen to the wide selection we have available. We find this helps many patients to relax.
You the patient remain in control at all stages of treatment. Should you need a rest, just put your hand up and we’ll stop – you’re not disrupting us, we know everyone needs a break now and again. Your nurse will be at your side at all times to look after you and offer reassurance.
Our duty of care to you doesn’t stop when you step out of the chair. At the end of treatment we provide personalised aftercare advice, always make a follow-up call to check you are happy with results, and welcome any feedback you may have.
